How to make a family emergency plan
The four-step plan every household should have — and what a custom county app makes effortless.
A family emergency plan answers three questions: how will we reach each other, where will we meet, and what will we do first. A county app can pre-load the local version of this so every household starts from a real plan, not a blank page.
Start with an out-of-area contact everyone memorizes, then pick two meeting places: one just outside the home for a fire, and one outside the neighborhood if you cannot get back. A custom app can localize meeting points and shelters for your area.
Give every family member a role and practice twice a year. When this lives in a branded county app, emergency managers can nudge residents to build and rehearse the plan — turning guidance into action.
